Withdrawing his beak from the skeleton's shield, Jim became aware of the skeleton's impending attack, so before the slash reached him he used the handle of his beak to stop it. The strong impact on the handle caused cracks to appear in it, not only that, the attack itself caused Jim's arms to go numb. Unable to react, the skeleton's next attack was a lunge which pierced a cost out of his chest. With the throbbing pain in his chest, Jim said a silent prayer that the wound would not be lethal. With a downward attack, Jim managed to separate the arm from the skeleton that possessed the shield, although because it was an undead creature, the lack of one of its limbs was hardly a minor inconvenie

There was fire in her eyes, and her brownish-black hair was braided, falling long over her shoulder, slightly passing her waist. "Are these the men?" Kathryn asked. Gold nodded. The flesh of one of the men fell to the ground with a splash like a piece of clothing had been removed, revealing his skeleton which remained standing, displaying yellow teeth, giving off the horrid smile his put-out flesh once concealed. The men all felt like this was a dream, some pinched themselves hoping to wake up. The skeleton stepped forward over the mass of discarded flesh and blood, paused in its footsteps, and Rose Steele stepped out of the skeleton.

Then Ding Hao noticed that the hand bones on the cyan-gray skeleton moved slightly. Then, something strange happened. The cyan-gray skeleton suddenly seemed to have melted. Every part of the skeleton began to glow with cyan light. The metal bones covered with rust wriggled like small milk cakes under the sun. Finally, they completely liquefied. The cyan liquid kept surging to the center.

The creatures’ bodies tensed, their clothes rippling under the force, but the most disturbing part wasn’t the punishment. As the whip tore through their clothing, the creatures' skeletal bodies were revealed. Beneath the torn fabric, their bones were exposed, stark white under the dying light. No blood. No wounds. Just bones. I trembled, my breath catching in my throat as the sight hit me like a wave of nausea. This wasn’t a normal world. These weren’t normal people. The whip left deep marks on their bones, but there were no cuts, no screams—only cold, silent skeletons.
