Why does nothing make sense? I reached the top of the stairs. The door to the headmaster's office was oak, carved with the same wolf-and-moon motif as everything else in this place. I'd been here once before, right after the arena, when Headmaster Vane had told me my mother was a student. He hadn't told me the rest. He hadn't told me anything. I knocked. "Enter." Headmaster Vane was sitting behind his massive desk, just like before. His gold-flecked eyes lifted from the papers in front of him, scanning my face.

I turned the brass handle slowly, the metal cool beneath my fingertips, and pushed the door open. Inside, the Headmaster, a man perpetually encased in tweed, was seated behind his impossibly large mahogany desk, his hands clasped together on its gleaming surface. My eyes, ever drawn to the details, darted to the paintings and framed pictures that covered the wall behind him. They were mostly academic portraits of stern-looking figures, some with ancient-looking scrolls, others with what looked like complicated magical diagrams. It took me a full minute, my focus caught by a particularly grumpy-looking wizard, to realize there was someone else in the room.

Kyle's POV We walked down the school's corridor, the sound of our footsteps echoing off the walls. We went along with Eden's idea, and he asked for directions to Mr. Daniel's office, who happened to be a wizard of some sort. In no time, we arrived at his office, a small room with a wooden door and a sign that read "Mr. Daniel" in bold letters. "I can smell him," I said, my piercing sapphire eyes fixed on the door. My dark hair was perfectly styled, my classic attire immaculate. "He is inside."

Grabbing and pulling Alodia's hand off my jacket, I shake my head and sigh as we follow the Headmistress to the Headmaster's office. "Sit down," the Headmistress says after opening a set of fancy iron doors. Stepping into the Headmaster's office, I can't help but let out a long whisper. "Wow," I say after my whisper. "This is the Headmaster's office? It's massive."

I placed my arms in his palm, and I could see how his lips curled into a subtle smile as he led me to his office. His office was large, with a regal looking desk that seemed to have been carefully crafted, and the leather chair behind the desk was fit for a king, looking very plush and intimidating. There were some minimal decorations in place, including an L-shaped black leather couch. Everything screamed luxury and elegance, but the atmosphere gave off an aloof and cold vibe. I felt as if I were in a winter cave.
