Damon released a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. The line went dead moments later. He slipped the phone back inside his pocket, took one last glance at the dark windows looming above him, and strode inside. The estate was as deserted as he'd sensed earlier. Not a single soul in sight. Damon moved silently, sticking to the shadows, his body coiled and ready for any sudden attack.
