Irina’s eyes sharpened at my hesitation, the silence answering her question more than any words could.

Heat creeped up my neck. “We care about each other. I know that for sure. But….it’s been complicated.”
A sigh escaped her, full of tired disappointment. “Of course he hasn’t...” she muttered under her breath, more to herself than to me.
“Adrian Chevalier put you up for an organ run with Victor Mikhailov but you didn’t inform Sasha, knowing that they both don’t see eye to eye.” She comments, her Russian accent making me more nervous.
