“We can’t just leave it here. It could cause problems for us.” Henry let out a dismissive scoff, his confidence unshaken. “Look around me. There’s nobody here,” he retorted, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. “Also, that pile of crap isn’t going to cause any problems for us. H was a worthless scumbag with a long list of enemies. There’s no way they’ll trace it back to us.” Martin’s eyes widened in disbelief. He had underestimated Henry’s audacity and the lengths he was willing to go to achieve his goal, and deep down, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease about the consequences of their actions.

I finally decided to write my first book. And honestly, it feels like stepping into a room I’ve always been daydreaming of but never dared to enter. The beginning might not be perfect. I suggest, “If you don’t mind having me around that is.” “I would love nothing more.” Henry beams, “though you should probably clear it with Dominic first.” I grimace, not caring for this idea. “Do you think he’d object?” “I think he’s got a new mate and a baby on the way – nothing makes an Alpha more overprotective.” Henry reasons. “But surely he wouldn’t think you’re a threat.” I protest. “Not me personally, but there may very well be other dangers out there.” Henry suggests, “in fact I’m surprised he let you come out without a guard today.”

And after several check-ups, he rested first. He found himself talking to a young man who appeared thin. He was telling him that dangerous people were living nearby. “Dangerous here but not dangerous to the place near here. Many uncivilized people there. Always make war. We are still scared even though Tiago always says that they will not be disturbed by the scary people because the government owns our place.” There was a trace of fear in his voice. He still understood his hard way of speaking. “If the government is in charge of this place, why are only a few of you able to study?” He asked.

It threw him back with tremendous force. Dustin’s face remained impassive. This was the inherent risk in this game. The two liquids were special in that if they expanded or contracted too quickly, an explosion would occur. Henry had intended to catch Dustin off guard, but instead, he paid the price. The force of the explosion was not fatal but not entirely harmless either. It could wound, or in a worse case, cripple someone. Henry’s men rushed forward in panic to help him up. Henry’s body was scorched, his hair was disheveled, and his clothes were in tatters.

“Rest, boy. Your mother needs time.” But Henry’s mind refused rest. His mother knew something. Something about Darius. And if she was right, then exile wasn’t the end of their story. It was only the beginning. That night, Henry couldn’t sleep. The hunters’ cabin creaked, the smell of antiseptic clung to the air. He sat by the window, staring at the dark line of trees. He thought about Darius’s sneer, the pack’s silence, the rogues’ hunger. He thought about the moment in the woods when the wolf faltered under his gaze—when something inside him pushed back.

I whispered and I wished I could see his eyes but the helmet was preventing me from doing so. "You don't understand. You don't know who Ryder is. He looked completely harmless but the things he did would make you see him as the monster he truly is," Henry said, not waiting for a response from me before zooming off. I sighed, walking off to my door as I thought. Who was Ryder?
