Nathan promised. Satisfied, Nolan ended the call. Nathan hurriedly finished his lunch before carrying the oatmeal the bodyguards had bought and knocking on Edward's office door. Nathan was well aware that when Edward was furious, he'd either throw himself into work like a machine or refuse to do anything at all. Sat at his table, Nathan squinted before video calling the contact information on his desktop screen. The moment the call was connected, Edward's flawless face appeared full-screen on the computer screen. Edward said impatiently, "Nathan, you really do have free time, don’t you?" Nathan’s mouth twitched but he composed himself with a smile. "Nope! I just hired a prodigy designer, but I’ve decided to let her start from the bottom so she doesn't get too cocky."

He cleared his throat, his expression shifting, “I’ve discovered that Serena was involved with Nate. He’s likely the accomplice in the attack.” My brows furrowed as the words sank in. I had suspected Nate was capable of something like this, but how had he and Serena become connected? There was no logical explanation for both of them working together. “Nate is spiraling out of control,” Edward continued, his gaze hardening. “But don’t worry, I’ll bring him down, and you’ll be safe.” I nodded, even though I felt a chill down my spines. “The Moon Goddess will keep me safe too. I’m not worried.”

She turned towards the place he had pointed, and noticed a tiny Batman figurine stood in the corner, perched on the base near the radio. “That’s Batman, right?” Kael repeated, this time in a higher voice. Laurel blinked in surprise. She had expected Kael to stay completely withdrawn. Yet here he was, talking. And to a stranger. He knew not to talk to a stranger, she had drilled that in him before he even clocked five. Nolan chuckled from his seat, glancing at the figurine in the dashboard. “Sharp eyes,” he said with a smile. “Yeah, that’s Batman. But he’s not my favorite.”

After a few seconds, the door finally opened up, revealing an old man with grey beards falling down his face. "Hello, Uncle Baton," Edward said with a small smile as he stared at the old man in front of him. Baton stared at his Nephew for a few seconds before stretching his shaky hands to his face. "Ed... Edward?" Baton muttered as he ran his creasy old fingers down Edwards mask. He quickly took his hand back, as if the mask had suddenly become too hot for him to touch. He then licked his lips and said, "take off this thing and let me see the face of my brothers son."
