Her lips curve into a smile, eyes bright.
It is Alfred, next, whose shoulders sag with relief so intense one might taste it. They are roars, he realizes, as the sounds draw closer.
“What is that noise,” Duchess Clair asks sharply in the frozen room.
Darla stands, as does Alfred.
“It is your daughter, Duchess,” she laughs. “Lady Alcina, the dragonlord. Stormbringer.”
