One of the books really stood out, it described the five elements; water, fire, earth, air and spirit. Most witches use all the elements, but there are some that draw their power from one element in particular. These witches have a special bond to that element, bound to that element throughout their lineage. It honestly sounded a lot like special werewolves, witches that had extra abilities by being born that way. Sadly the books were written from the perspectives of werewolves, so I didn’t know how much we really knew about witches.

I can’t help admiring how beautiful and powerful she looks as the forest reacts to her. Heads turned and applause broke the silence, echoing around her like soft thunder. “What’s going on?” Serra whispered to Linette. “This is the Elemental Ceremony,” Linette replied quietly. “Each witch discovers their elemental ability—water, fire, air, or earth. Some… possess rarer gifts, like manipulation or hypnosis. Leigh and Kara have those.” Serra nodded, unease coiling in her stomach. And what of me? I have none? I thought inwardly.

"Do you want me to tell you what I know?" Raihana smirked. "Duh." I frowned at her, trying not to pay attention to the way she was twirling a strand of her hair around her finger. "Witches are elemental, although they can use spells of other elements, they are in tune with their own elements a lot more and can use it with ease. Some witches have more than one element and this can combine into a new element, such as water and air, you get ice. Only females are witches, their male counterparts are stronger than humans and are referred to as wardens. They can perform some spells if given the correct tools. Apart from that, they hate our kind… and we don’t get on…"
