Max cleared his throat, his voice steady but tinged with urgency. Taking a moment to observe the council members, Max noted their identities. The council comprised seven individuals: Jackson, Fenrir, Magnus, Astrid, Thalia, Ragnar, and Ruben. They were all revered Elders within the werewolf community. But Max knew their reputations didn’t necessarily reflect their true nature. Ruben and Jackson were sympathetic to Max’s cause, and he hoped to win over Thalia, the only female alpha in the council.

The man sitting to the left of Alpha Ber had more rugged features, like those of the wolves I’ve lived the past fifteen years with. All the members at the table had plates in front of them already, with exception for the man with delicate vampire-like features and the man sitting beside Alpha Ber.
