Her fingers found one and she retrieved it titled We Were Liars. The edges were frail and worn from overuse, the smell of old paper suddenly filled her nose and she placed the book back. Her eyes scanned the shelf more and her eyes suddenly found a book. “It sounds perfect.” Elaine reached across the table and squeezed her hand. “Then why not?” Emily stared down at her plate for a long moment, the steam rising between them. “I wouldn’t even know where to start,” she said quietly. Elaine waited. “I was created in a lab,” Emily went on, her voice steady but distant, like she was talking about someone else. “I didn’t grow up like other people. I didn’t learn how to live among humans. Every step I took, someone was watching. Measuring. Correcting.”

The small room felt hot, and the air was thick with Emilia’s perfume as the women stared each other off. Emilia finally sighed and rolled her eyes. “What do you want?” She snapped again. Fixing her hair to look busy. Delilah raised the book. “I need to know. What inspired this book of yours? Tell me everything.” A knowing smile spread across her lips as she saw the book. Her eyes had a glassy, distant look like she was high on Mount Everest. “It came from my college days, Delilah. All the stories we’d hear about these whoring, loose girls screwing boys all over school, while acting like saints.

It's just a friendly date. By now I am walking on the street. My house isn't that far from my Clinic. In fact, I have to pass through it to reach my home and my clinic is just down the lane from the cupcake story. there is a really beautiful garden opposite to it, which is always full of life.
