Samantha No! No! Please don’t hurt me are the words I hear floating through the air. I didn’t realize that those words had fallen from my lips. "Here," Liam said quietly, offering me a glass of water. I stared at him for a moment, surprised. Then I took it. The cold water slid down my throat and seemed to calm the storm in me, at least for now.

Until the world narrowed to just us. Emma's legs tremble. Her nails raked lightly down my back. Her mouth parted on a sound that was half-plea, half-ecstasy as her body tensed and broke apart beneath me. The grip of her and the way she just kept pulling me in like she never wants to let me go—it made it so impossible for me to hold back. All the things I used to look forward to now cut deep into my heart. I quietly slipped into the shadows at the edge of the room without anyone noticing. My whole body was tense, but the tears kept falling despite how disgraceful it was. My chest ached as if it had been torn open. I pulled out my phone and sent my boss a message. "Something urgent came up. I'm leaving early." I got in the car, my mind blank. Suddenly, I remembered what the doctor had said and patted my chest, whispering to myself. "Don't cry… The doctor said I can't have any strong emotions… No crying…"

Familiar. I end up dropping my phone on the floor. I stay still, silent, staring at the carpet as gasps erupt around me. The weight of the moment presses down, thick and suffocating... Matthias shouted to his parents, "Send Katana to my chambers now. Emma is in danger!" Matthias faded and entered their room to find Emma fading fast as a shadow sat upon her with a pillow held upon her head, suffocating her. He knew her heartrate was falling fast, and she was not long for this world. Charging at the shadow, he passed right through and fell upon the floor next to Emma. He was shocked at the power of the shadow and yet he couldn't attack it via normal means, he managed to pull the pillow away from her face and heard her breathing hitch, as she managed to take in the air to sustain her lungs.
