That I’m just a broken thing you want to fix.” The words were a physical punch to Damian. His face went white, a profound and horrifying rage crossing his features. The muscles in his neck and jaw stood out, stark against his pale skin. He was silent for a long moment, the air thick with his fury, before he pulled out his phone.

It made me feel better in a twisted way that he wasn’t the one who dismissed me and he wasn’t rejecting me again. I couldn’t stand it. Damien walked out the door in less than a second, gone, taking his scent with him and leaving an ache in my chest. I swallowed and let it sink, trying not to address how fucked up I was and how twisted the whole thing was. After… what happened, I didn’t think it was ever going to be possible for me to react this way with men or sex. I told myself I did not care even though something in my chest felt tight and painful.
