I said, folding my arms tightly across my chest and leaning back against the handrail, “for a man who spends most of his time glaring at people from the head of a conference table, you’re surprisingly competent in a hostage situation.”
A faint, reluctant smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, “Hostage situation?”
“We were trapped in a metal box against our will,” I pointed out, tossing my head back. “That counts.”
“That’s not even remotely what hostage means.”
“It’s close enough.”
He let out a low, breathless sound that was dangerously close to a laugh. “It’s good to see you back to normal. For a second, I wondered how I’d live without your unimpressed manner of speech.”
