Then I grabbed my sheath for my waist and inserted my seven inch parkerized blade. “Holy Moon Goddess! You look like you are going to war.” Rory squealed. I laughed at her energy. I look over at Aiden who is looking at me with some emotion I cannot name. The last thing I grab is my Kukri Machete. It’s eight inches long and completely black. There is only a thin silver lining along the edge. It’s great for combat, but I am going to slice through some of the targets. “Okay, I’m ready.”

This blade was named Chaos Blade, the symbol of the garrison leader, and it didn't belong to Adrian. Yet, in such a critical moment, he had managed to call upon it. As soon as the Chaos Blade appeared in Adrian's hand, his aura surged, filling the air with sizzling sounds. When his intensified aura covered the blood-red ghostly hands, sounds of sizzling echoed through the air. The ghostly hands began to melt away at a visible rate, just like the earlier Blood Specters.

said Gerald, a hint of happiness in his tone as he took his short blade out. “…Hmm? What’s this?” said Gerald the moment he realized that the short blade looked slightly different from before. Looking closely at it, it seemed that peculiar lines and words had appeared on both sides of the blade. On one of the sides, the word ‘Dawnbreaker’ could be seen engraved on the blade in ancient-like handwriting. ‘Dawnbreaker… I guess that’s your name, huh. What an overbearing name!’ Gerald thought to himself. Turning to look at the other side of the short blade, Gerald saw that there were many more tiny lines and pictures on this side.

“This is perfectly safe” A few nervous laughs followed, shallow and unsure. “The swords have been equipped with non-lethal composite tips,” she explained, motioning toward the rounded, dark ends—elegant, polished, deceptively harmless. “They won’t draw real blood… just bruised egos…and…reveal who deserves to wear a crown next to the goddess Inanna..” She smiled and my fists clenched more. “Each blade is pressure-sensitive. One clean hit is all it takes to register a strike.” She continued with a light tone.

I told them about the incident with the blade. As I pulled the blade to show them, my breath hitched. A sickening realization settled over me—the blade had begun to decay, its once-impenetrable metal now chipped where our blood had mingled. The sharp edge had dulled, the intricate engravings that once pulsed with power were now barely visible beneath the damaged metal. It was as if the weapon itself had been tainted, consumed by the impossibility of what had touched it.

Just me, silence, and a truth I couldn’t outrun. The blade was where I’d left it. Carefully hidden beneath a false floor tile and shrouded with cloth enchanted to dampen aura bleed. It wasn’t a standard weapon. This one had been gifted to me after the hybrid trials. Blood-forged. Custom-coded to react to the specific fingerprint of my aura signature. One of the only things that still felt real when the rest of my memories seemed to come and go like smoke.

I forced myself to say. "It doesn't matter, Reis. As a matter of fact, she's on my side now, and she's going to help me execute my plan. And there's nothing you can do about it." He smirked and leaned back in his chair before snapping his fingers. Some men approached with a tray. Resting on it was a blade emitting a glowing green light. "Let me introduce you to the Blade of Poison," Cillian began. "I'm sure you can sense the lethal energy radiating from this blade. We've spent years designing it to kill usurpers like yourself."

I said as I stood up again. I walked over to the steel cabinet and opened the doors. I took out my knife roll and placed it on the table where she’d be able to see the display. I took out my favourite Gerber knife and turned it around in my hand. It had a fixed blade, not that I had anything against folded blades, but cleaning it afterwards sucked. In my personal opinion the fixed blade was stronger when separating a joint and getting into those tough spots and cutting through sinew and muscle. The blade wasn’t long but it was sharp and did what I needed it to do.

The blade was forged from a darkened titanium alloy that didn't reflect a single stray beam of light. My blade. The weapon of the Ghost. I had retrieved it from my old, buried lockbox two nights ago. Using it was a massive risk, but in the dark, against the Vances, I needed the absolute certainty of my old life. The first enforcer stepped around the metal container, his assault rifle raised. Before he could even register the shadow in front of him, I lunged forward. My left hand clamped violently over his mouth, muffling his scream, while my right hand drove the dark dagger cleanly between his ribs, striking the heart with mathematical, instantaneous precision.
