I nodded, swallowing my fear, and tucked the dagger safely into my jacket. “Thank you,” I whispered, the words barely audible but sincere. Ariel’s lips twitched into a ghost of a smile, then she turned toward the approaching wolves, her form already shifting as she prepared to hold the line.
