Steve Harrington Novels & Stories

“Yeah, small world, huh? I had no idea you were coming in for an interview. Congratulations on the job, by the way. Sarah only hires good people.” “Thank you,” I said, my voice still soft. “I’m really happy to be here. It’s my first day tomorrow.” He nodded, his blue eyes warm and friendly. “That’s great. Welcome to Harrington’s. We’re a big team, but we work hard and look out for each other.” Sarah smiled between us, still looking a bit surprised. “Well, this is a nice coincidence. Elena, Ethan is the owner of Harrington’s. He started the company a few years ago and has built it into something really solid.”

Alpha Tate is still holding his face in his hands, mulling over everything that has happened to him. I can’t imagine losing my mate. I’ve heard that it drives the other partner insane, to the extent that you would want to end your life. I’m not staying in this wicked world without my mate. I will end my life to go to the afterlife and be with her. Life without Justin is worthless. “Did you see what they were experimenting on? Do you know why?” Jayden oddly asked. It’s a good question though. But it’s not the right time to ask.

“Sir, Mr Harrington landed in New York this morning. He’s 30 minutes away from the house and has ordered breakfast with you. He’ll be at the dining table in 40 minutes.” I groaned and buried my face deeper into the pillow. “I have a team meeting. I’ll skip breakfast. Now go away so I can catch a little more sleep before then.” “Mr Harrington said it was an order, sir,” Stephen replied, his voice echoing down the hallway. Of course it was.

I said, raising an eyebrow. “You are not answering. If anything you are avoiding the question.” She said, looking me in the eye. Her voice was still gentle, It was as if she was just trying to understand. “No one gets to rest when they’re in charge,” I said. “Running a pack this size, keeping the council in line, the rogues out, the elders quiet, it’s not a job with off hours. You can’t afford rest when you’re the one everyone expects to hold the line. It's not as easy as you want it to be. Some people think that just holding it together is easy.”

I could see the whole of New York from where I was standing and all its impressive night lights. “What are you talking about?” I asked as I slowly turned around. I was calm while he was angry. That had always been our dynamic. He wore his emotions on his face and mannerisms proudly, I didn’t. I preferred not to let people know what I was thinking or feeling. It made me a little unpredictable and it got people frustrated enough to reveal what they were feeling. “You what I’m talking about, fucker. You hired Hazel fucking Thompson.” He stated. “I did and this is my hotel so I don’t understand how that concerns you.”

I can’t skip it. By the time I make it to the training ground, everyone’s already gathered. The chatter dies down as Luna Serena steps forward, her presence commanding. She scans the crowd, her usual calm and authoritative expression firmly in place. “Alright, today’s going to be… fun,” she begins, a sly smile tugging at the corners of her lips. The word ‘fun’ sounds like a threat. “I’ve brought in someone special for you all—a combat master.” Excited whispers ripple through the group until she steps aside, revealing a small, unassuming woman with a name tag that reads "Coach Morgan." She’s shorter than anyone here—barely over five feet—with wiry arms and a steely glint in her eye.

Now the project was delayed; the deadline was tight, and on top of that, they’d wasted their big boss Sam Harrington’s, multibillionaire and head of the Harrington Empire, time and money. Everyone, Daniel included, respected and worshiped Sam Harrington, a most hardworking, disciplined, generous, and honorable man. Sam was like the sun to them all, giving light to those in the dark and warmth to those in the cold. He helped many grow under his radiance through his ability to save companies that had gone under, startup inventive businesses before anyone saw the opportunity, and do ludicrous deals everyone was too afraid of.

His tone was grazed with sarcasm. Harold scoffed and turned away from the window. "You must have really grown up Matteo Rodriguez…Seeing as you doesn't sneak up like a thief behind me…" Matteo laughed. "What brings you here this time?" Harold asked as he stepped away from the window and lowered himself into a seat. "Don't tell me you have given up already?"Matteo shakes his head. Harold has always been a chicken. Little wonder Lucas always won him. "Whose fault it is we are here right now? Huh? You can't even put one woman under control, how dare you think of leading the vampire clan?" Harold slammed at him.

Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket and all that. Brilliant flame red hair catches my eye and I know who it is before I turn.
