The mansion was shrinking in the distance, disappearing behind a row of towering city buildings. A breathless, disbelieving laugh escaped my lips, quickly turning into a tearful sob of pure relief. I was out. The brothers couldn't reach me here. I pulled out my phone to text Nina that I was on my way. A single, beautiful realization grounded me: I was finally on the run, and tomorrow, my real family would be waiting.

They were "Engaging." "We call it 'Reality Plus,'" Smith explained. "It’s a world where you can do anything, as long as it stays within the 'Community Guidelines.' No hunger, no war, no pain. When in fact, I am the puppet.
