On social media, Skyler had just posted her solo flight celebration photos. She stood on the tarmac, no wings pin on her chest, but a men's flight jacket draped over her shoulders. Ethan's jacket. The camera had caught the cuff. The row of stitches I'd ripped out and redone was clearly visible. The caption read: "First time going up alone. My legs were still shaking when I landed. Good thing someone kept telling me I could do it." Someone in the comments asked whose jacket it was. She replied with a small bird emoji. No explanation.

What are you doing here?” Ava was stunned. The King Cole Bar wasn’t his style at all. “Jesse wanted to get out for a little bit. Who’s your friend?” Ray asked.

Omegas bonded with places that brought them comfort. This cramped, rundown hovel of an apartment had held Ray's most sacred and safest space, his little nest of bedsheets and pillows, all held together by yarn and safety pins. This place had been his private getaway from the world, his one little bastion of solace, and now it was being taken from him. When Ray turned around, his eyes were full of tears again, but he walked resolutely forward to the alpha and held out his hand. “Let’s go home.” Ray said with a smile that broke through his tears, like a brilliant sunrise over the ocean.

"Strip and blindfold her. I want her completely in the dark until I am ready." "No! Wait!" Raye gasped, as she tried to scramble backward away from them. Was she going to get raped??! She panicked and tried to look for a way to escape, but one of them ran forward, and grabbed her arms violently. She kicked and scratched their hands, trying everything she could to free herself, but the other man pinned her arms behind her back, until she felt herself getting handcuffed.

THE ESCAPE Maya's eyes locked onto Ryder's, her mind racing with possibilities. She knew they had to get out of there, and fast. Asher seemed to sense her tension, and he subtly shifted his position, his eyes fixed on Ryder. "We appreciate the tour, Ryder," Asher said, his voice smooth. "But we really should be going." Ryder's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I don't think so," he said. "You see, you're just beginning to understand the true power of our creation. And I'm afraid you can't leave until you've seen it all."
