Alpha’s Claimed Mate.
POV: Ember.
The sun had begun to dip behind the trees by the time Ember returned. The big house smelled like rain and pine, and everything was quiet—too quiet for a house that held a child.
She stepped inside cautiously, her boots leaving faint prints on the wooden floor.
“Asher?” she called, her voice soft but steady.
“In here,” came his reply—from their room.
She walked in to find him sitting on the edge of the bed, the carved box beside him, its contents laid out carefully: letters, an old photograph of his parents, and the obsidian pendant, still warm from his hand.
