The Boyfriend App
There’s still a tiny ember in the darkness that doesn’t quite go away, like the tip of a candle, or the memory of the grief that pierced my imaginary heart moments ago and is now only beginning its bittersweet time to heal.
The same is true of the theme music. First, it protests from being turned off and produces one last screech that’s similar to either the cry of a prehistoric bird or the roar of the sky being rent in half. Next, there’s a lingering hum or echo that fills the ensuing, tension-filled silence.
I realized I’ve shut my eyes out of reflex so, gingerly, I open them again.
