He kissed it before looking at her with a forced smile, “Mom. Damon furrowed his brows. “Vampire blood heals little wolf.” He urged his wrist forward for her to take. “I’m not drinking that.” She pursed her lips.

“I’m sorry, Diana, but this can’t happen. I made the rules for a reason.” Diana’s eyes moistened, and she smirked. “I know…” Her gaze reminded him of the still surface of a lake. Calm. Controlled. But there was a faint ripple of disappointment around the edges. “Okey-dokey.” Her words and tone were flippant given the topic under discussion.
