"We must go clockwise, saying one thing we have never done. Those who have done it have to drink. Matteo starts." Matteo's confused for a second. "It's Never Have I Ever." Ariana explains, seeing his face. "I know that game, okay." He says, sitting up straight in his chair. "Never have I ever..." His eyes trail off from the ground as he thinks of something he's never done. His mind is suddenly blank. He's always done everything he's ever wanted to do. Playing this game with these people will get them all drunk.

People from the village were closing in. My heart raced as I frantically paddled, but the boat still moved painfully slow. The footsteps grew louder, and my heart sank into despair. Were we really not going to make it? Suddenly, Eve stood up. She smiled softly at me, her lips curving with a gentle warmth. “Emma, you have to live—for me and your mom.”

Gods. A pair of gryphons soar overhead, their bondeds laughing as they dive through the clouds. Direwolves and their humans moving in perfect sychronizon. One particulary unimpressed frost lynx lounges across a tree branch, glaring down at everyone beneath it like they are personally offending its existence. Further in the distance, Ironclad dragons train with their bondeds, bronze scales glimmering beneath the rising sun. Terrifying, but majestic. For a few silent moments, I simply watch. Because despite all else, I still love them. I always have, even though Aetherion Academy was not supposed to be my future.
