Everyone Reads Novels & Stories

"They bought Shares. Every person on that street owns a 'micro-stake' in our lives. They aren't cheering for our freedom. They’re cheering for the Content." Nora walked to the center of the room, where a massive holographic display had been installed. It showed a live-map of the world. Across every continent, glowing gold dots represented "Active Viewers." "We didn't escape the simulation, did we, Papa?" Nora asked, looking at Kael.

I gag but I feel the same for Em so I can’t really say anything. “And thank fuck for that. I really thought I was going to have to compete.” “Never. But donuts always help.” “I know, love. I know.” “So movie? what should we watch.” I ask. Because I know what both the girls want to watch and that’ll just cause another fight, I just continue playing ‘Elite’ the Spanish murder mystery show on N*****x something the four of us have become obsessed with together. So much so we made a freaking pact none of us were allowed to watch it on our own, with our partners or with our best friends unless all four of us were in the room and present, ready to watch.

If some of y'all can't do that, then it's fine too. Y'all are already doing enough by reading. Stay wicked Busola❤️

“Athena… are you mad? The price—” “I know the price,” Athena says, chin trembling. “And I accept it.” At this point I’m just desperately trying to keep up. “Wait—” I say, voice so small it shocks me. “What… what is a Reading of Life? Why—why is everyone acting like she just announced the end of the world?” No one answers. The entire room feels like it’s holding its breath. Athena looks at me—but it’s not cruel this time. It’s not hateful. It’s… terrified.

He’s holding a bat. "Stop them!" he yells, charging up the steps. "Don't stop," I command Alex. "Unity Protocol," Echo announces. "Empathy Network: Broadcast." Echo hits the switch. The wave hits the square. Everyone with a phone—everyone with a smart watch, a pacemaker, a hearing aid—feels it. They feel me. They feel the warmth of Alex’s skin. The crushing safety of the ropes. The blinding, white-hot purity of the love between us.

Kim could hear the other students gasping and gushing over his magnificence. "There's no way he's a human breathing in air like me," "I can't believe the rumors are true," "I could stare at him all day," "I wish he would notice me," "I would give everything to be with him," "Please notice me sir!" "I wonder if he has a girlfriend, he better not cause I'm the one for him," Kim couldn't help the laugh that escaped her lips as she heard the students behind her murmuring to themselves. She turned towards Claire who was also busy just like the other students, drooling over Mr grumpy.

"Joel, I regret everything. I miss her so much!" I missed Anna too. But everything was over now. There was no going back.

Absent-mindedly, I opened my phone and realised that I had received a text message from Isla. You knew it! It said. My eyes widened. Oh no!
