I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself.
"Mom, I need to confess something to you," I said, my eyes squeezed shut, the weight of my secret pressing down on me.
"What is it, honey?" she asked, her voice gentle and reassuring. I fought back the tremors that threatened to shake my entire body.
I fumbled with my phone, frantically opening the camera, desperate to show her what I needed to tell her. Dad appeared in the frame, his face etched with concern.
