I was a phantom in this world, an onlooker as I watched the inevitable happen.
The flashlight in Sasha’s hands flickered, and she wailed in fright as pure darkness closed in.
One second, then two—the flashlight flickered. On the third second, the screaming began. Sasha’s voice lifted to an incredible height, before gurgling and sputtering out. Horror locked me still, freezing my blood and keeping me in place. I could feel it all around me, that writhing darkness that was now responsible for the sounds of tearing flesh that filled the room.
