Fahrenheit 451 Parlor Walls Novels & Stories

His eyes were wide as he said, “Fear not! Mr. Larson is highly-skilled in martial arts, so not even a steel-forged room could trap him. Perhaps, Mr. Larson’s not even in there anymore.” Sean said with a bitter smile, “I’m afraid not. It was Mr. Larson who personally designed the room. The walls have a one-meter thickness. In fact, even the bullets from a machine gun are incapable of passing through these walls. Mr. Larson can’t possibly leave the room, no matter how powerful he is.”

But the dark comforted me, especially when I am upset. There are passageways through the walls. Some of them aren’t good for being tall. I remember a couple times when I first started living in the walls that I bumped my head. But now, I have learned to live downward. My legs and back are always bent. My hands constantly rest on the floor. Sometimes my hands help me move faster. I remind myself of a spider.

Those who build walls are their own prisoners. Ursula K. Le Guin Piper woke slowly, in that hazy way one does on a winter weekend when one has snuggled deep into the blankets. Bright, clear sunlight bathed the room and bed in stark pale colors, washing everything out and making it feel surreal.

He pulled a lever on the wall, and thick steel shutters slammed down over every window and door, turning Liora's room into an impenetrable bunker. "Come on in, Mavric," Thomas whispered. "Let's see if your love is stronger than reinforced concrete." END OF CHAPTER 129.

The bread trembles in my fingers, so I set it down and move to the next table like nothing is wrong. We finish the rounds and cut through the quiet side corridor back toward the kitchen. The walls here are lined with a carved screen that makes light into lattice. Wolves chase moons in the pattern, all motion and stylized hunger. It’s old work, the places where hands have passed for years are worn smooth. When I touch it with one fingertip, the wood is silky and cool. “Don’t let Marek catch you petting the wall,” Kai teases, eyes warm. “I’m memorizing it,” I say before I can stop myself.

Oh hell to the no. Something burned its way up the back of my throat and threatened to strangle the breath from me. Everything darkened but the opened square foil package in my grip. Anger clogged my throat and deafened my ears. This d-bag is going down. The flat-screen TV cast a glow over the dimly lit dining room. Those stupid, hideous pale green walls that he was certain would look great in our salle a manger gawked back at me.

"Happiness isn't a setting on a machine, Jinyan. It’s the fire we built in Mekong. It’s the blood we spilled in the vaults. If I take this pill, I lose the only thing that’s real—the memory of how much I love you." She grabbed the glass of water and threw it against the wall. The glass shattered, but the sound was wrong. It didn't ring out. It made a flat, digital thud. "Acoustic silk," Panni whispered, touching the wallpaper. "The walls aren't plaster. They’re fabric. We’re still in the Aurelian Plaza. We never left." The "Hospital" walls began to ripple. The white light flickered, revealing the high, glass-domed ceiling of the plaza for a fraction of a second before the simulation correcte

Honestly, getting slippers would probably be so much easier, in the long term as well, especially because ina few months, winter would be upon her and it was impossible for her to keep her feet warm. Breathe in one two three four five Breathe out one two three four five All the walls of the café were the same: all of them the same colour, all of them the same length and all of them far too boring and bland. Even Lila, years upon years ago, had been able to have the privilege of plastic stickers on her wall, even if they had only been bought and had been placed there because her mother had been able to have them in her own childhood bedroom, courtesy of her father. They were a

Sometimes I forgot to breathe and I had realized that I did it out of habit not because I needed to. The small lobby was poorly lit, blue walls and white ceilings with low hanging bulbs. I followed her through the first door to the right and entered into a large parlour. The chairs were the only brown furniture in the room, and the only thing black in the room was the large rectangular blank screen of the television that hung on the wall.

This room was a sanctuary, a haven amidst chaos, and I knew in that moment that we were truly in the presence of greatness. The walls were adorned with tapestries depicting pivotal moments in Fae history, each one bursting with vibrant colors and intricate details. A majestic marble fireplace stood proudly on one side, its hearth filled with glowing embers that cast a warm, flickering light throughout the room. Shelves lined with ancient tomes and artifacts whispered of a legacy that was both powerful and profound.
