The Man in the Past
She squeezed my hand and whispered, "Mommy, let's go."
"Okay." I turned with Yvette and walked toward the boarding gate.
Once we were on the plane, Yvette sat quietly, gazing out the window without a word.
I leaned in and said softly, "Once the plane takes off, you'll be just like a little fairy, flying up into the clouds."
Yvette turned back to me. A faint smile bloomed on her face, even when tears were streaming down her cheeks. "Yeah. Mommy, you're a fairy, too."
