Christ, this is so awkward; what if I fall? At the image forming in my mind of me falling, the corners of my lips turn upwards in a smile. Fuck, I hate that I can't control how happy I am to see him. He must have seen me smile by now. As the realisation dawns, I feel the heat rise on my face, and instinctively, my hand rushes to cover my face to at least block the red tint of my cheeks and when that fails to hide my shame, I drop my gaze to the ground.

“I didn’t know that.” “I’m telling you now.” “Leave the girl alone, she only has to warm on her smile, that way you’ll attract more customers.” She says the last part while reaching across the table and squeezing my hand. I let the smile out, feeling my cheeks warm. No doubt they’d be painted a deep pink now. “That’s what I’m talking about,” Rachel said pointing to my face. “I have a feeling everyone is going to love you darling.” That bit of doubt creeps back in, “What if they don’t?”

I repeat breathlessly, my heart soaring. “This one is for nobody else but us.” I nod, fighting happy tears. Falling for him may have been putting it lightly. As I slide into the car, a huge grin on my face, I wonder if in a New York minute, I’ve already fallen.
