Bound by blood and lies
My stomach flipped.
“Vault Eleven,” I said again. “It’s underground.”
Matteo pulled out a flashlight. “Why does this feel like a trap?”
“Because it probably is,” Ricardo muttered, drawing his gun.
We descended, one step at a time, the air growing colder. The walls were covered in vines—no, wires. Old electrical cables, dead and coiled like veins.
Then the stairs ended.
And the vault opened before us.
A massive chamber, half-lit by dying bulbs that still clung to life, flickering in and out. Shelves lined the walls with dusty books, old machinery, blueprints, maps… files.
