"Defend yourself, Peter," I said quietly.
He didn't raise his hands. He didn't drop into a defensive stance. He just stood there, his arms loose at his sides, his chest exposed beneath his white silk tie, his dark eyes staring back into mine with a calm, terrifying acceptance that made my blood run cold.
"No," Peter said.
"I said defend yourself!" I screamed.
And before he could answer, I drove my fist straight into the center of his perfect, unfeeling face.
