As we climbed the stairs together, arms full of gifts, hearts full of something harder to name---I looked down at those amazing people. They weren't just neighbors. Thaddeus wasn't a people person and found it inconvenient to have outsiders living in his home. She looked up at him and asked, "Do we really need this many people?" Thaddeus raised an eyebrow and said, "Grandpa carefully selected these people himself. Since we're going to be a family of four, we need these people. Why don't we look around upstairs?" Jessamine was pleased to hear Thaddeus say that. The two walked upstairs hand in hand. Jessamine noticed that the corners were covered with bumper strips, and there were voice-activated lights everywhere.

Dad also sold our old house and now we are viewing the new house he bought. "So, what do you guys think?" he asks us. "It's beautiful, but are you sure you want it? I mean it's not as big as the other one."Nora asks, looking around. The house is not as big as the previous one. This one is more homely. It has four bedrooms upstairs, the walls are all white. The floor is wooden, and the kitchen is enough with white kitchen cupboards around from corner to corner. A kitchen counter in the middle with drawers. A small square table not far from the counter with four chairs.

Nicki grunted, snatching up the stray pieces of trash and walking into the dimly lit kitchen. Tyra followed behind her, as I'm sure she'd been to their house many times before. I had accompanied Tyra when she went to pick Nicki up, but I had never stepped foot inside their house. The curved staircase led to the second floor, but had a small balcony overlooking the foyer. The kitchen was larger than needed, especially for a family of four. Two stovetops sat side by side, along with a sprawling, marble counter top. Nicki closed the trash can and motioned for us to follow.

“Your room is ready upstairs. We saved the best one for you.” Vasty smiled but felt nervous. She followed them inside. The house was huge and beautiful. Everything looked expensive. She went up the stairs to her new room. It had a big window and soft colors. She liked it. After she unpacked a little, her mother came in. “Why don’t you explore the house? Dinner will be ready soon.” Vasty nodded. She walked down the hall. There was a narrow staircase at the end. It led up to the attic. She climbed the steps. The door at the top was half open. She heard soft music inside.

The young man who was our guide led us through the rooms while telling us about the house. The house had a living room do each floor, with the ground floor having two rooms that currently weren’t in use and a kitchen where food was made separately for the workers who lived in the house. The second and third floors had a kitchen and 4 rooms each on both floors. The third floor had office space too where my fiancé was when I and my family came in. We were having dinner downstairs at the big family dinner table which was laid out with clean silverware and plain white plates that shone like it was polished out to perfection.

Uncle Anand led him upstairs by a narrow wooden staircase attached to the wall. Up to the top, it felt even narrower because of the partitions used as rooms. There were four small rooms and the front like a family room. No chairs or tables. Just a worn out rug to sit on and tv near the wall. The room can be a family room or a place to receive guests. The two floors of Uncle Anand's house felt so cramped, the difference was that the lower floor was full of goods and production machines, while the upper floor was filled with furniture in every corner.

Frank’s wife was sitting at an old round oak table sipping some coffee and watching a small television on the counter. “Oh, hello.” “You just stay seated.” He looked at her. “She’s not as energetic as me.” He waved and had them follow. Amber smiled at her and almost sat down with her when Philip grabbed her hand. Frank showed them the downstairs which included one bathroom, a large living room, and two rooms they used as an office and a spare bedroom. The upstairs had a wide hallway that led to several bedrooms that were open with lots of windows. There was not a lot of furniture up there except in the master bedroom.
