Dinner with me, remember?” She took the box, fingers tracing the smooth lid. “What’s inside?” “Yiu have to open it and see for yourself” She untied the ribbon carefully, lifting the lid to reveal layers of white papers. Nestled inside was a dress… white as fresh snow, made of flowing chiffon that shimmered like moonlight on water. The bodice was delicately embroidered with tiny silver threads, forming subtle floral patterns that caught the light. It had thin spaghetti straps and a fitted waist that flared into a soft, ethereal skirt that would swirl around her legs when she wears it.

She grabbed a thick book and pulled it off the shelf before returning to her seat. She placed the book on the coffee table in front of me so I could see it. My eyes widened when I saw the gorgeous purple and white designs on the book with dark purple lettering that read: Spell Book. “A spell book?” I gasped, running my fingers down the front cover. “Is this real?” She nodded.

The light cast a soft glow over the spines of the books, creating an inviting ambience that beckoned Danial to explore further. As Danial walked between the shelves, he felt a sense of reverence and awe. It was as if the accumulated wisdom of generations whispered to him, inviting him to partake in its secrets. He reached out and touched the spine of one of the books, feeling the texture of the aged leather beneath his fingers. It was like touching a piece of history, a connection to the past

I ran my fingers along the spines as I walked, feeling the ridges of their titles, each one a promise of an adventure waiting to unfold. I opened it and found myself entering a smaller version of the library downstairs. There was no swirling staircase going up, up, up, rather walls full of books, some of which were only accessible via the sliding ladder off to the side. With my stomach full and heart heavy, I waltzed over to one of the shelves and scanned them, intending to pick a book at random. One in particular drew my eye. The cover was made of dark leather, embossed with a swirling gold font that was a bit hard to read. Tendrils of flame, interwoven with threads of shadow, danced up the spine and around the back.

Older than anything I’d ever seen. The cover was wrapped in dark, cracked leather, etched with a strange symbol I didn’t recognize. A gold circle was embedded into the spine, and within it, a single quill rested delicate and ivory, as if plucked from something divine. Curiosity tugged at me. I reached for it. The moment my fingers brushed the surface, the book pulsed. A gentle hum, like a heartbeat, thrummed through my palm.

Upon closer inspection, I saw a book spine glowing with my blue magic. The light vanished when I touched the book, and I read the title: Lupinotuum Encyclopaedia.

Now, I unexplainably feel almost euphoric. Something nestled deep within is singing to me. It's both comforting and terrifying. Yawning, I get to my feet, glancing at the bed, only to notice something sitting upon the side table. Frowning, I circle the bed, realising it's a book with a note lying atop it. Picking it up, I twist the book over, reading the title. This is easily the most beautiful book I've ever seen. The spine has a golden pattern printed over it, leeching onto the front, twisting around the letters of the title.

I stretch up on my toes and pull it out, and seconds later I succeeded like I always do when I put my mind on things. Sending a cloud of dust motes swirling into the air while allowing it for a moment to escape from the shelf, I blew the dust from the cover. There were no words printed on the front or spine, just a simple black leather binding cracking with age, and strange symbol I do not recognize.

But she… she was beyond anything I had prepared for. I ran a finger along the spines of the books, sliding past titles in languages I didn’t recognize, scripts older than kingdoms, runes that whispered to one another. One tome fell into my hands, its cover warm under my touch, vibrating faintly as if alive. I opened it, and the pages exhaled a scent like aged honey. The text scrolled across the page, weaving histories of bloodlines that bled power, lineage that could bend reality.
