Auren held up Wolfie with complete and utter confidence. “I’ll use Wolfie. He’s very fierce.” I laughed before I could stop myself, the sound bubbling up warm and unexpected. The other children accepted this perfectly reasonable battle strategy without question and charged off toward their imaginary enemy, waving sticks and shouting battle cries that were far more enthusiastic than threatening.
