Find A Book To Read Novels & Stories

_KIMBERLY_ I stared at the bookshelf in front of me and hummed in thought. Despite me coming to the nearest bookstore to buy some books, I had no idea of what books to get. I was here in hopes of finding a new hobby. I wasn't much of a reader but the internet told me that reading was a good way to pass time. Not wanting the usual experience of looking at my phone screen or laptop, I decided to buy a real life, paperback book and I felt damn proud of that idea. But here I was, at a loss of what to book to pick.

“Good morning. Can I help you find anything?” Maya smiled politely. “No, thank you. Just browsing through.” The woman nodded and stepped aside. Maya flipped through books, enjoying the calmness. She wanted a martial arts book. Her eyes caught a book, but it wasn’t quite right, more fiction than technique. She put it down, scrolled, and paused at another title. Finally, she found the martial arts book she’d been searching for, and she sighed in relief. But as her hand reached to grab it, another hand reached for the same spot.

Winning that challenge. First thing Monday, I used my free period in the library, where I scanned the medical textbook section for titles I hadn’t read yet. I must have read more than half of them over the weekend, my eyes burning now from scanning tiny text into the wee hours of the morning. One book in particular was titled Emergency Field Care Manual. I’d had it on my list since last week. Unfortunately, as I went to the reference section, there was only a massive empty space. Not just the one book, but at least eight, all gone around the spot where the book I’d been looking for had once been.

Absolutely not. Furious that I left my phone, laptop, and speaker downstairs, I find myself with nothing to do. Do I have the patience for reading? No. Am I in the mood to read? Also no. Do I have anything else to do? Another no. Sighing deeply, I grab a book, plop down on the bed, and start reading my smutty novel. Smut is probably the last thing I should be reading right now, but it's the only thing available. And honestly, who doesn’t like smut?

“Since you’re back, are you going to pick the next book?” I blinked. “Me?” “Of course,” she said, smiling. “You’ve been gone. You deserve the honor.” Everyone nodded expectantly. I looked down at the stack of books on the table, my fingers brushing across their covers. My hand paused on a novel about love, identity and societal expectations. This book will give them a glimpse of what I passed through during my absence. I smiled softly. “How about this one?” Brent groaned. “Oh no, not another depressing tragedy. Can’t we read something with a hopeful romance?”

I fell asleep after several minutes. The next day, I decided to head into a few stores with Jenny. Just to get away from the mansion and have some great company. Something to distract myself from the troubles inside my brain. Jenny and I headed into a book store and we looked around. We both enjoyed reading all sorts of books. Reading something can make you forget about the world around you for a moment and some books can even make you feel like you’re in whatever world is created inside the book.
