Fire and Water
In an instant, the tower convulsed and condensed down until it
was no more than the size of a basketball between his struggling, shaking arms. The energy which the ball of light held was like harnessing the power of the sun; brief flares lit and circled the globe before receding. He trembled from the exertion of controlling the fire, every muscle flexed, and every tendon drawn taut. With one last measure of control, he released the tension in his hands, opening them fully as if he had told the fiery ball of energy to go.
For a moment, nothing happened.
