Zane's POV The light swallowed everything. When I opened my eyes again, the world was still trembling. The air reeked of smoke and metal, and every breath burned my lungs raw. Ember was gone from my arms. One moment she was there—heat and heartbeat and defiance—and the next, she was ripped out of my grasp like the world had decided to erase her. I stumbled forward, shouting her name, but my voice vanished in the wind. The ground beneath me was still molten, the cracks glowing faintly like veins of dying fire.

Emilia's eyes widened in shock, and she felt a surge of fear rising up inside of her. "What do you want?" Emilia asked. Victor's smile grew wider, and he took a step closer to Emilia. "I want to destroy the pack," Victor said. "And I want to start with you, Emilia." Liam's eyes flashed with anger, and he took a step forward. "You'll never touch her," Liam said, his voice low and menacing. Victor chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "We'll see about that," Victor said. As Victor finished speaking, he raised his hand and sent a blast of energy hurtling towards Emilia. Liam reacted quickly, jumping in front of Emilia and absorbing the energy himself.

Flames danced up stone walls and swallowed memories whole. Lira didn’t move at first. Her breath hitched. Her legs trembled. Then Cael’s voice echoed in her head: “Take him to Ember.” She ran. Clutching her son, she vanished into the woods, guided by the dark and the fire’s glow behind her. Each step forward tore something out of her—but she kept going. Cael was gone. I should have either gone to check on the company, gone to a bar or gone anywhere without Faye to disturb me. "Are you not going to say anything?" "What the hell do you want me to say, Faye?" I frowned, facing her. "Ember is our mate and I don't fucking care about any theory you have cooked up in your head. Even if you are right and she is working with the enemy, I'll kill every single person and their descendants for using her against me and Tyler and still keep her by my side because she is our mate and she is fucking ours!" I growled, my eyes changing colors and she took a step back away from me.

Damien POV: I awoke with a start, my heart pounding as the remnants of a nightmare still clung to my mind. The moon's soft glow illuminated my chamber, and I sat up, rubbing my temples to dispel the haunting memories. It had been a dream about Amia—the day I stood against her, resulting in her banishment from our pack. I recalled the accusations, the anger, and the bitter taste of betrayal that had clouded my judgment.

“Well, you are what is called a hybrid, which is very special. You have a mixture of both Bedelia and Jaka. So you are part dragon and part phoenix and her name is …” “Ember.” She says and I chuckle as I nod my head at her. Her eyes widen as she looks down at herself. “Ember, Ember, are you there?” I look at Vilkas and he sighs, shaking his head. When I look at Cyra, who is talking to Ember. “Ohhhh, I get it. We are like sisters?” she says and I chuckle at her cuteness. At least she is taking this a lot better than I would have thought.

“Never. The moon goddess can handle that on her own.” Frustration fills my chest because I know he’s lying. He’s hoping for Peyton to find his mate within the Aurora Flame pack, a way to tie our packs together forever. If we become an ally of Aurora Flame, maybe then the rogue attacks would stop. Though I suspect the rogues only attack because we are in the way of the Aurora Flame border. We exit from the woods and head back to our packhouse.

He buried his face in the space between her neck and shoulder, and Ember can’t help but let out a laugh when his stubbles tickled her skin. “Liam! I’m sweaty all over!” Ember protested. She’s sweaty from her sparring with Yuri. After Yuri escaped the fire, Ember saw her change. She’s now determined to learn the art of fighting and Ember will give her anything just so she could have her revenge on those witches who burn their town. “I don’t mind the sweat, Ember. In fact, I love your natural scent more than anything. It smells sexy,” Liam started to rain tiny kisses on her neck.

She gripped her hands tightly by her side, body tense as she stared down David. Slowly, David began to speak. "It was a stormy night when Emilia fell and went into premature labor. Instead of calling an ambulance, she called your dad. Being friends with Emilia, your parents rushed to her aid. But on their way there, they got into a terrible car accident and died on the spot. And if you really want to get down to it, it was Emilia's unborn child that caused the accident. That child never should have existed, but it survived. And that child is her, Kisa."

Mateo fired back. "Mateo, let go of me!" Ava requested, her voice strained. "No, I won't," Mateo insisted, his voice rising. "I want to finally know what his problem is. He's the reason why you didn't accept my proposal to be friends back in high school." He shouted the last part, drawing a crowd. Lucas's jaw tightened. "I said let go!" He punctuated his words with a hard punch to Mateo's face. Mateo staggered back, then retaliated with a punch of his own. The fight was on. Lucas, fueled by anger, threw another punch, connecting with Mateo's jaw.
