The first thing I felt was fire. Not the kind that warms your skin. Not the comforting heat of a hearth on a winter night. This fire lived inside my bones. It clawed through my veins like molten metal, burning every nerve it touched. I couldn’t breathe. My fingers curled into the rough stone floor of the tower as another wave of pain crashed through me. It began in my neck where Tristan’s mark throbbed violently, then spread downward into my chest where the ghost of Xander’s rejection still lived.

"The Crimson Flame is carried by you. the most ancient fire. It rests inside of you. However, it stirs now. I took a step back. "I'd rather not die." "You're not required to," she stated. "But you have to burn to rise." I paused. "Will it cause pain?" Slowly, she nodded. "Beyond anything. But you will be reborn after the suffering is over. I shut my eyes. I said, "I'll do it." The woman smiled. "After that, let the fire carry you." I was completely consumed by the fire. My bones, blood, and entire body were scorched. I let out a yell. I had the impression that I was being torn apart, fragment by fragment. I didn't stop, though. I gave it everything: my history, my pain, and my fear.

The sky was red, the earth blackened, and in the midst of it all, I stood. But I wasn’t just standing. I was burning. His legs buckled, but the fire wouldn’t let him fall—it held him, devouring him piece by piece. Flesh sloughed from muscle. The muscle slipped from the bone. His jaw locked open on a scream that ripped itself into a gurgle as his tongue burned to ash. The fire burrowed deeper, down his spine, splitting it like a green branch under a blade. Vertebrae popped, hissing as marrow boiled inside them. When the Hollowflame reached his skull, it didn’t burn it away clean—it cracked it like an egg. Fragments of bone steamed in the night air, eyes sagging into blackened sockets before collapsing entirely.

Even if I had to, I'd drag someone down with me. A rusty axe lay in the corner of the cabin, left behind after chopping firewood. Without hesitation, I grabbed it and swung at the lock. A loud clang echoed across the entire pack's territory, sending birds scattering from the rooftops. After a dozen swings, my arms burned with pain. The lock finally snapped. I shoved the door open and bolted. Under the moonlight, my skin gleamed an eerie violet. Clearly, the wolfsbane had seeped into my bones.

If it was a normal person, I'm sure that his hand would have been pierced due to the heat. But I know that it is not affected by the fire. He's a Basilisk and fire could not kill him, nor harm him. Faris suddenly walked towards us and I took a step back when he came towards me. Take this. He said that my blood almost came to my head. Is he crazy? Who in their right mind would touch a burning rock? That's why I shook my head so fast that it seemed like my neck was about to break from shaking so much. It was still smoking and I could see that it was burning.
