Step One; Don't Fall
“I know, Dad. Tell her I’ll be home soon. But this is the best way to handle something like this. I’ve already got missions pulling me into this area every few days anyway, so might as well move somethings over. Plus this mission is just to stake it out properly and watch until I know exactly what the guy’s doing, then I kill him when the meal is hot. Rushing it now would be sloppy.”
There’s a pause on the other end. I can picture the great Christopher Carter rubbing his temple the way he always did when he’s weighing the risks of my job.
“Fine. But don’t get comfortable. This isn’t a vacation.”
“I know, daddy,” I reply, ending the call.
