My eyes seek out the flames first, and only then do I take notice of the shadowy black mist pouring out of Alaric, like an inky black abyss, it swallows up the flames, leaving him completely unharmed. I am left stunned by the power of the shadow element. The only element that is even more rare than fire. The shadowy black mist is still pouring out of him, even with the flames extinguished. It extends from Alaric, surrounding me on all sides and enveloping me, leaving a chilling trail wherever it touched.

**Celeste's POV** The dagger felt alive in my hands. I sat on the edge of my bed in the shadow palace, turning the weapon over and over, watching the black flames dance along its blade. They didn't burn me.... my skin had grown cold enough to match their temperature, but I could feel their hunger. Their eagerness to taste blood. "It's beautiful," I whispered. Silas stood by the window, his silver eyes reflecting the strange light of the three moons. "Shadow flame never dies," he said. "One cut, and the poison spreads through the victim's body like liquid night. Death comes slowly. Painfully."

Deep within it, a faint crimson flame flickered—a flame tinged with blood. "That's… the Heavenly Flame!" His pupils constricted. Somehow, a Heavenly Flame had been born in this barren wilderness.

"You’ve got this." The biggest beast hissed, its ember eyes narrowing. "You think a flame can stand against the abyss? Foolish." "Maybe," I responded, coming forward and raising my hand. "But it’s my spark." The silver light exploded from my hand, a scorching wave that slashed through the darkness like a sword. The shadow monsters shouted, their shapes disintegrating into vapor as the light tore through them. But the largest one didn’t collapse. It stood firm, its shape wavering but refusing to dissolve.

He shouted, causing Falla to laugh so hard but her joy eventually vanished the moment she saw what did happen to the mansion. Falla moved closer to the burning mansion where the fire is slowly swallowing it. She can feel the intense hotness around the place. Talon is also shocked to see what did happen to their home being ruined by fire. Everything is set on fire, even trees and shrubs had been damaged too. Falla pulled her wand and cast a spell to eliminate the fire until it's too late. “Tollere ignis!” As she said that the fire is gradually getting smaller and smaller until it turned into a thin smoke that mixed through the air and fades away.

The forest itself seemed to bend toward her, leaves shivering, shadows bowing. Circe’s lips curved into a smile, cold and sharp. “Yes, shine brighter, little queen. The brighter the flame, the deeper the shadow it casts.” Behind her, the darkness shifted. Not wolves, not lycans, but creatures loyal only to her—shades that thrived on fear, unseen by mortal eyes. They hissed and slithered like smoke, feeding on the energy of the night.

My mother stands silent and patient, wringing her hands in front of her, and yet doesn’t move a muscle. Leyanne works fast, adding more to the paste and throwing in a flicker of fire she conjures mid-air, letting it combust in a puff of dark red smoke that seems to congest the air. The candles react first. Every flame stretches tall, thin, bending sideways as though something unseen has entered the space and is dragging the air with it. Shadows crawl up the walls, distorting the shapes of everything we know into something warped and unnatural. You can feel something ominous has crawled inside with us and is hiding in the shadows, with bated breath, like it’s hungry.

Damian! "Guide me," I pleaded as I closed my eyes. I stepped through the back door and saw Damian on the floor. He couldn't breathe, panic filled his eyes, fear spread across his face. I raced to his side and tried to hold him. My arms moved through him and he disappeared. This was my image of what Prue had told me. My scream filled the air and reverberated my ears. The house turned into ash and fell around me. I stood, holding out my hand as the ash fell. Slowly, the grayness started to turn black. I was back in the abyss.

Weakened by days of starvation, I take every ounce of energy that I have left within me, and I feed the flames until the ball begins to grow within me, lighting me up with power. With one last garbled scream, the energy pours out of me, sending out hells flames in all directions. Consuming and destroying all that lies in its wake. I watch in satisfaction as Darren’s startled body is engulfed by fire, his mouth agape in a silent scream and eyes wide in shock. Before any sound leave his body, the flames have taken over and he is rendered into dust before my eyes. The flames die down, and I look about the scene before me. The blackened earth lay bare.
