The flames flickered, hungry, and I felt the pull, the connection, like a thread drawn taut. The fire stirred, a living thing waking at my touch. It wasn’t just heat—it was power, raw and unyielding, answering my call. I didn’t command it; I shaped it, guided it, my will a blade cutting through the doubt. The flames rose higher, twisting into shapes no fire should know—spirals, arcs, a dance of light and shadow that silenced the jeers. Gasps replaced whispers, the camp’s breath stolen as the fire bent to my will, not a trick of the dark but a truth laid bare.

"May this flame burn where I could not. May it light the darkness I created. May it warm those I left cold with my cruelty." The fire took, slow at first as flames licked tentatively at the kindling, testing its worthiness. Then it caught in earnest, roaring to life as if the night itself had been waiting for this moment, hungry for the light that had been absent too long. The flames climbed higher, painting the courtyard in shades of gold and amber, casting dancing shadows across walls that had seen too much death and not enough life.

She glanced at the fountain first before she looked at Theo. "I wanted to show you this special and sacred place in hopes that you will understand me and the way we live, even just for a little." Theo said with all seriousness. Maddie just nodded to urge him to continue. "This flame was revived when the war from a long time ago was put to an end. Since then, this flame was not on the verge of dying out." "Wait." Maddie even put her hand up to stop Theo from speaking. "What does the war have to do with the flame?
