With a flick of his hand, his crystal ball glowed brightly, and the branch transformed into a small wooden boat, gently floating at the river's edge.
“After you, Princess,” Ulysses said, extending a hand toward me as he stepped onto the boat.
Phoebe flapped her wings, flying above us to guide the way. Reluctantly, I climbed aboard, and Ulysses placed his crystal ball at the front of the boat. Without needing a paddle, the boat moved forward at a steady pace, carried by the current.
The night was still, and the soft glow from the crystal ball illuminated everything around us. I stared at Ulysses’ reflection in the water, his shadowy form reminding me of a grim reaper.
