I could see the beach clearly, as if I was the one flying over them and not those butterflies. I could see everyone in every room of the palace as if I was gliding through the palace and not those butterflies. But the vision of one butterfly fluttering in my room froze my body. Amor was sitting in the room, hiding his presence. Did he hear everything I talked to myself? I thought he was with Hikari… No. Hikari was in his room, fast asleep on his bed. I could see him from the vision of those spy butterflies. Spy butterflies — that was what I named them.

Kent lingers and smiles. "Thank you," I whisper, and he nods with a wink, disappearing from my room. I press my lips together and shut my door, putting on jeans instead of my leggings and applying some concealer to hide my red spots from crying. I try to put on the best brave face I can. I was going home for Mom's enchiladas. The world isn't small; it's huge and full of possibilities.

Miles breaks the hold. Lux rushes to me, hugging me tightly as she squeezes my shoulders. "We'll be back, Maya." "Just wait tight for us," Miles says again before vaporizing into dust like Lux and slipping out through the door's base. Then I'm all alone in this awful room, with only a tiny window that's positioned too high to be an escape route. Gosh, I'm going to run crazy if they don't come back anytime soon. * * * "As I lay in bed for too long, my eyes start failing me, but I can't sleep. So I jump down from the bed, groaning in pain as my body hits the floor. I get up, and start pacing the tiny room to keep myself awake.

I asked, unable to contain my frustration. She attempted to maintain her composure and said, "It's not worth mentioning. Besides, according to our rule, you shouldn't have entered my room." Her words hit me deeply, feeling hurt and powerless. How could she not see that I was genuinely concerned for her well-being? "I was worried about you. Seeing you trembling like this, don't try to act cool like you always do. You don't have to put up a front in front of me. We're roommates, and roommates are supposed to help each other," I replied, my voice filled with a mix of anger and concern.

But I ignored their and gestures and focused on the plan I already it has in mind. My plan is pretty simple, just go up to the guest room and lock myself inside the room and cry myself to sleep. I smiled to myself when I noticed that the girls couldn’t come up to Alpha Raymonds floor because he didn’t give them permission to go up to his private floor. I went up alone, the tears flowing down my cheeks as I approached the room opposite Rays room, the guest room that he said was mine as long as I stayed here.

I interrupted, "I will not step a foot inside your bedroom ever again. I want the room in the wing, the very last one at the end of the hall. The one furthest away from you." Dante's chest heaved, a sharp gasp of air escaping his lips as if I had punched him in the stomach. He stared at me, his lips trembling, his eyes filled with agony. "Kayla please, " he said. "The west wing is cold and has not been used in years. It is too far." "Then I will sleep on the floor in the kitchen " I said, turning my back on him and taking the step up the stairs. "Choose, Dante.. You give me that room or I walk right back out those front doors and let the city take me."

She slurred a few words, eyes rolling back. Within seconds, she was asleep. I let out a deep breath and stepped back. Enough of this. I turned and walked out of the room. The moment I was out, I pulled out my phone. “Book me a flight home,” I said into the receiver. “First available one to Texas.” I hung up and started walking down the corridor, ready to be done with this nightmare. And then… I stopped. There was a familiar figure on one of the beds in a room nearby. I took two steps back, staring through the small glass window.

Lyra My eyes flutter open, to a new day. The soft morning light filters through the cracked curtains, painting stripes across the wooden floor. It's been days since the letter arrived, a crisp parchment stained with dark ink, and I've been holed up in my room, replaying every word, every choice, every "what if." My mother's voice still echoes in my head-calm, measured, trying to convince me that staying hidden is the safest route. I can't bring myself to accept it.

Carlo asked and I froze mid-step. “I… I.” I cleared my throat. “Jet lag.” His faze remained unreadable as his gaze lingered for a bit. Finally, he gave me a clipped nod. “Go ahead, I will join you in a bit.” I didn't bother replying as I turned on my heels, following the familiar path down the hallway to the room. Once inside, I locked the door shut behind me as I threw a hand over my racing heart. I quickly pushed off the door, glancing around the enormous room, searching for a place where I could hide the phone.

The ginger haired instructed. “Okay,” Augustus answered, turning to leave, “otay,” Evy repeated cutely, making the elder giggle. “Let’s go get your book, baby bun.” The brunette said as he retrieved the spare key, and walked up the flight of stairs towards Lucas’s apartment. He didn’t really think much of it at first, but as he unlocked the apartment door and stepped in, it made him suddenly realize, that he was in someone else’s personal space and that fact made him blush a little.
