But then I remembered Nia’s laugh, Wayne’s little hum, Dexter’s stubbornness when his handwriting didn’t line up straight. I couldn’t bring my darkness into this place.
So, I closed the book, locked it in the drawer, and smiled at the empty room as though it were full of life, then I left to go get lunch too, then the day was over.
