His black shirt was short-sleeved so I could see his strong forearms as well as the tattoos on his body. "Maybe I should go to help get down the stairs." It was a tattoo of a red dragon. The red dragon shut his eyes, letting out a smoky breath. When his eyes reopened they were green with a black slit in-between, like that of a serpent. Sharp and pointy wings ripped out from the back of his flesh. Long horns protrude from his head, I watched as he transformed into a fucking huge red dragon. The enormous red dragon bore down on us with a deafening roar. Its massive scales glinted in the rising twilight. He let out a loud shriek, then its fiery breath licked at the air, scorching the ground beneath its colossal form.

By the time I lifted my gaze, Elion was already sitting in front of me just like Hael. His shirt was off his body. His back was bare and I saw his tattoo. Unlike Hael's, his were bold, colorful, and very vibrant, stretching from his shoulder blades to his lower back. It was a Phoenix. A big one. With large wings inked in gold, red, and black colours. The beak was open, as if it were screeching. Its talons extended as if it had just risen from ashes. It looked powerful, just like Elion.

The tattoo stretched with lines forming into a design of interlocking wings and chains, intricate and bold. Without realizing it, I drifted closer. My hand rose almost on instinct. My fingers brushed the edge of his shoulder blade, tracing the ink. The heat of his skin seared into me. “Why this?” I whispered. He exhaled slowly, like my touch burned and calmed him at once. “Chains for what holds me down. Wings for what I want to break free into.” My fingers lingered on the design again. His skin was smooth, taut under my touch, every inch screaming with restrained power.
