For a little guy, he is way too good. There are all different kinds of drawings that are too neat, I shuffle through them, trying to find one to stick on our fridge in the kitchen. I smile to myself when I come across a picture of him and I then there's Jasmine and even Alex, with and without devil horns— that makes me laugh. I pass by other boyish things, like cars, dragons, dogs, dinosaurs and ninjas, lots and lots of them.

“I’m done with Lily’s drawing!” Aaron declared proudly as he waved his drawing wildly in the air. Unlike Emerald with her letter, Aaron’s piece of paper was actually important. He ran towards Cassie and Felix – who had disentangled their bodies the moment he shot up from Felix’s chair – and held up his drawing so that they could both admire it. “That’s Cassie and that’s me and that’s Lily.” He explained, pointing to the various stick figures on the paper. As Felix didn’t own any crayons, Aaron had done his drawing using pencils and blue and black pens.

Leo opened his small bag and took out a paper. He gave it to her proudly. Naomi looked at it. Her breath caught. It was a simple drawing. A small boy. A woman. And a tall man beside them. The man had no clear face. But something about the shape… The height… The posture… It felt familiar. Too familiar. Naomi’s fingers tightened slightly on the paper. “Do you like it?” Leo asked. Naomi forced a smile. “Yes… it’s beautiful.” Leo beamed. “I made him tall,” he said. “Because I think my daddy is strong.”

But they all grabbed a marker pen and started drawing anywhere they could reach. They all seemed to know what they were drawing. When they finished drawing their individual pictures, they went to a larger blank wall. Where Max drew a big circle, Eden then drew a slightly smaller circle inside of it. Before Jaxon drew some lines connecting the circles. It made it look a little like a clock. But Eden added some wavy lines at the bottom of it. When they finished, they went to a sofa, curled up with Evie and cried. I looked at their pictures. Max had drawn a man’s shaver but with small lightening bolts coming off it, Jaxon had drawn a bucket and Eden had drawn a knife.

He climbed onto the sofa beside her and opened the notebook. Crayon lines filled the page. Bright colors. Simple shapes. But the drawing was recognizable. Three stick figures stood side by side beneath a large sun. Evelyn had seen similar drawings from him before. Usually the same three figures. A woman. A child. And a tall man with darker shading around the eyes. Silas held the notebook proudly. “Do you like it?” Evelyn forced a soft smile. “It’s beautiful.” He studied the picture carefully. Then pointed to the tallest figure.

She locked the door from inside and lay on her bed face down as she sobbed. After a while, She stood up and walked up to where she dropped her bag, taking the drawing book from her bag she sat on her bed and starting drawing vigorously as she Panted and cried like someone who is scared to death. She finished drawing as she threw the book to the floor and buried her face on her pillow and cried. It was a drawing of a van with someone inside. . Alex got home late that day, he got to the parlor and met Fay, his sister's babysitter, coming out from her room, holding hands with Bonnie who was giggling, probably enjoying the story Fay was telling her.

"The what?" Aiden proudly lifted the parchment, presenting it with a triumphant flourish. It was a masterpiece of terrible stick figures. There was a tall, blocky man with a jagged golden crown, a woman wearing an oversized silver tiara, a small blob representing a little boy, a giant black dog with six legs, a glowing stick figure surrounded by yellow loops, and a final girl drawn with aggressively angry V-shaped eyebrows. Kael let out a long, dry sigh. "Let me guess. The one with the furious eyebrows is your long-lost aunt?"

He thinks about himself and only himself all the time but is nice to most people. Did someone come to mind, because I know one did for me. There's this one fuckboy at my school, Connor Owens, and he's probably the hottest guy in my grade. At least that's what all the girls think. He's tall, has brown hair, tanned skin, and the most mesmerizing bluish-green eyes. He's a really fun person to be around, and he's a pretty smart guy. We're in all the AP classes together.
