"Let me read you a bedtime story." Knowing he might feel lonely in a new place, I picked up the storybook he'd brought. "Which story would you like tonight?" "The Magic Academy." Ian scooted over to make room for me. I lay down beside him and began reading. Tired from playing, his eyes started drooping halfway through. I softened my voice, and soon heard steady breathing beside me. I closed the book and started to get up. Ian rolled over and hugged my arm. I froze, afraid of waking him.

I groaned in mortification as mum was telling a story about how we got scared during one Halloween night of our childhood. "Please go on." Kami said laughing hard as she held her stomach. Mum just ignored us pleading and began a new story. Sharing stories late into the night, Zoe also told stories about she and Kamila's life in highschool and growing. We finally decided to go in around 10pm. Kami stripped down to her bikini and fell fast asleep immediately her body touched the soft silky fabric of the bed. We joined her and also fell asleep on either sides caging her between our arms.

Causing us all to snicker. My mom takes us all to our rooms and tells us to be up by 8 am. When we all get our breakfast delivered to our rooms, “Edgar plans on making a royal announcement.” She tells us all. “I wonder what the announcement will be about,” Benson asks. “No clue, but look, we have an enormous tub in the bathroom,” I said, scouring the room. I tried to sleep that night, but I couldn’t. The enormity of what is happening keeps my brain moving. So I keep Benson awake. He is my mate, after all, and our relationship is just getting started.

That I also used that spoon just moments ago? My face heated up, and I avoided his gaze. “I'm going to the bathroom.” I quickly tell him and then I run out of the room, so as to not make a fool of myself again.. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ That night, before I left, Sophia and Franklin asked me to tell them a bedtime story. Even though I had experiences in putting Xavier and Clayton to sleep, I only knew of the story of the three little pigs and of course Cinderella but my boys weren't ever interested in that second one.

It was late autumn when they arrived — the trees skeletal, the air thick with a kind of oppressive stillness that seemed to hum beneath the surface of the world. Stop overthinking things.” “What do you mean?” “We just had a little of fun. Don’t feel guilty about it. I know how your mind works.” He was right, as usual. I nodded. “Right. Goodnight, Remy.” I laid back on my pillow, falling asleep within minutes, satisfied for the first time in ages.

They seem to forget that we were just sleeping beside one another and I would easily feel either of them rising from the mat that we were lying down on if they tried to even move. +++++++++++ That being said, we hope you enjoyed our simple tale of terror. I wasn’t used to searching bedtime stories and didn’t really have an idea of what kids would like, so I chose the first story that came up on the internet, not really focusing on what it was about, but in the end, it did turn out to be an interesting story about friendship, as explained by two cute bunnies. "Did you enjoy the story?" I asked when I saw how drowsy Hayley looked. "I did…" Hayley said with sleepy eyes. I smiled, glad that reading her a bedtime story had been successful. I brushed her hair gently, making sure she was comfortable and warm. As her eyes started to droop, I turned off the light and whispered a goodnight prayer. "You'll sleep peacefully and with no fear. No monsters

Just remember, if you don’t want things to go bump in the night, don’t tell anyone else about them. Even now the shadows in my room play havoc with my subconscious, so I turn the light on and sleep with one eye open. Also, when my computer starts to go on the fritz just as I write a particularly spooky part of a story, I chuck it up to chance and swallow a little harder before checking to make sure that I have only one shadow. It’s amazing that I still get so scared as an adult. You sure would have thought that for someone who makes a living scaring people, I would know better, right?

I would be damned if I only instructed them and left. For a million years, my order would only accumulate dirt, as Ethan and Ezra would bury themselves in their video games and Emily would baby Penny. “Mum, tell us a bedtime story.” Ezra pleaded. Defeated, I began my tale of the legendary Wolf's King and his Luna. It happened to be their favourite story, and they never grew weary of it. In less than ten minutes, they were all fast asleep, like wasted adults. I tucked them into bed and watched them sleep for a while before turning off the light.
