I nodded and followed her to our little angels' room. Samantha tucked in Poppy, and I tucked in Violet. Poppy and Violet couldn't sleep without listening to bedtime stories, especially Poppy. I brought out the story we'd be reading tonight, "The Christmas Cookie," since Christmas was just a few weeks away. Samantha and I started reading the story, making it more real by adding sound effects with our mouths. Our little angels giggled, "awwn" ed, and pouted their lips until they fell asleep.

I curled up with Chris in his bed as we watched a movie. He’s been worried about me over the past week, which I feel bad about. I hate worrying everyone. Chris surprised me with a home-cooked dinner and a movie; A Journey Back to Christmas, my favorite Christmas movie ever. I sighed as we watched, “What’s wrong?” Chris asked; I shook my head, but Chris was not about to take that for an answer. He paused the movie and straightened up, waiting for me to talk to him.

Chuckling in response, Xavia then cleared her throat before saying, “Once upon a time, there was a small demon who would always attack kids on New Year’s Eve… So to stop that mean demon from having its way anymore, we now give out money since it seems to be afraid of good fortune…” “Yeah! Did his sister seriously still believe in all that…? Frank himself didn’t really buy into the story, but since the others were doing it, he simply played along. With how emotionless h

I even let the kids call Xander father, so they won't ask why kids in my bedtime stories had fathers, but they didn't. Minutes later, I was in the bathtub, preparing the kids for bed, by scrubbing them gently. “Mom, it's snowing. Tell us a story.” Azella piped up, as she played with the bubbles. “A story about people building snowmen that eventually wake up, and chase them.” Azel suggested, and I laughed. “Why would you want to hear such? Let's hear stories about people sharing Christmas gifts. I wonder what father will bring for us this time.” She said, and let out an excited high-pitched giggle.

he said. “I’m not sleepy.” “Then we can talk,” he replied. “About what?” “About anything that isn’t about kidnappers, plane crashes, or crazy admirers.” I smiled. “Deal.” We talked about small things. Work, his childhood, my aunt, and funny stories. He told me about how he once burned an entire pot of rice and blamed it on the stove. I laughed so hard my back hurt. “Stop laughing,” he said. “You’re injured.”

However, as I turned to leave, Louis took my hand and said, "No matter what your mom says, I'll only believe what I see. "Our wedding will go ahead as planned. Don't you dare think about leaving me." My eyes stung with unexpected tears. This was the first time anyone had chosen to believe me despite my mother's words. … After the disastrous Christmas dinner, Louis noticed my lingering gloom and suggested that we go on a road trip for a few days. We chose to go to a nearby small town. The festive atmosphere here felt much richer. The food was also wonderfully fresh. Louis and I had a great time.

“You have a grandmother?” “Yes, but back to santa. I do believe him, and he comes in the New Year with a female sidekick called the Snowmaiden,” Alexander told her. ‘But you can celebrate Christmas any way you want while you’re with me. I didn’t even know the festival existed until I went to live with my grandmother.”
