“Rhysand.” Crysta doesn’t let go right away. She pulls him a fraction closer, eyes moving over his face with slow, deliberate intensity. “My, my,” she murmurs. “You look so familiar. I swear I’ve seen you before.” She tilts her head, studying him like a painting. “Those eyes… that jawline…” My heart stutters. For the love of God. No. No, no, no. I step between them, shoving Crysta’s arm down. “You haven’t seen him,” I say sharply. “You don’t know him.”

I couldn't hear his reply, but Damien then said, “You can come back to the house now, bring Tristan and the others.” I think Evan then must have asked if I was okay, because Damien then said, “they managed to successfully remove the metal and gave her some blood in a drip. She's sitting next to me downstairs and her wound is almost healed, it's miraculous,” he sounded so happy, and his face was full of pride, as he listened to Evan on the other end of the phone. The impact crunched bone. They hit the snow in a tangle of claws and teeth, snarling like demons.

They started withdrawing their attention from her, after she located her seat with the help of the server. Freya sat at a side table with Scarlet and Theo, far enough to be respectful but close enough for me to see her clearly. She wore a simple deep blue gown, yet she outshone every woman in the room. Her dark hair fell in loose waves down her back, and her posture told anyone she didn’t want to be here tonight. But, she is the mother of my heir… she shouldn’t be seated like a mere guest. Theo kept glancing toward me, his small face curious. Every time our eyes met, he gave a shy little smile. That simple gesture chipped away at the frost around my heart more than I cared to admit.

By the time he reached the west wing, his heart was doing something erratic and unfamiliar in his chest, and he told himself it was only irritation, only the leftover adrenaline from the guards, only anything other than what it actually was. He didn’t knock. The door swung open and Freya turned from where she stood by the window, and the moment their eyes met, the bond surged between them like a current finding its circuit, sudden and complete and impossible to deny. ELYSIA’S POV The room felt colder after he left. Not in a physical sense; the fire still crackled in the hearth, warm and steady. But something had shifted when the door closed behind him. The air felt heavier, emptier. I sat on the edge of the bed, gripping the furs, trying to steady my breathing as I stared at the closed door, as if it might open again at any moment. But it didn’t. He was here. The Alpha King was here—Alpha King Rhaegar. He had caught me just as I was about to collapse.

Bulls have nothing on me.” She made to go in and Rhysal’s hand held the door firmly closed. “I cannot seem to dissuade you no matter how much I caution you so I shall leave you to it but I won’t be coming in with you.” “Fine by me.” She chirped and made to leave again but again, Rhysal didn’t budge. “Move over.” She told him. “Nothing is free, my dear Freya. What will you give me in return for my favour?” He asked her.

“W-what is happening, please?“ Freya asked as soon as she was down. “Can you both explain what's going on?“ They looked at her with widened eyes and bowed with apologetic looks on their faces like they weren't allowed to speak to her. “Okay, then.“ Freya didn't want to put them in trouble by forcing them to speak. “At least, can you both take me to my hus—” Freya caught sight of a handsome new guy dressed like royalty approaching her. At the sight of him, the two bridesmaids nodded their heads and rushed away. “Pleasure to meet you, my lady,” he said with a smile and raised her right hand to kiss her knuckles. “I'm Lord Ethan.“

CHAPTER 6: A Fresh Start Freya's POV The cold-blooded bastard Lobo materialized in the corridor, flanked by a phalanx of soldiers and his favorite whore Lupa.
