The moment I touched the garland, Fiona appeared out of nowhere, in a leap worthy of an Olympic athlete, and grabbed one of the fabric flowers with her beak.
"FIONA!" we all shouted together.
But the chicken was already gone, running with the flower in her mouth, the little pink bow Rosa had insisted on putting on her flapping in the wind like a trophy.
"That chicken is going to be the death of me," Rosa declared, appearing in the kitchen doorway with her hands on her hips. "Someone catch her before she destroys everything."
"I'll go!" Chloe offered, clearly excited by the mission.
And she ran off after Fiona, laughing like a child.
