The Alpha’s Moonbreather
Her breathing was labored.
“Elsa, fall back,” Elise shouted. “You’re overextending.”
Elsa did not look at her. “I don’t have the luxury of restraint anymore.”
A feral lunged from the treeline, faster than the others, slipping through a crack in the light barrier. Elise reacted instantly, hurling moonfire toward it.
Elsa moved first.
She stepped directly into its path.
“Elise, no!” Elise screamed.
The feral’s claws sank into Elsa’s side, tearing through flesh and bone with a sound that still echoed long after. Elsa cried out, staggering, but she did not fall. Instead, she planted her staff into the ground and released everything she had left.
